Bun Shami Tikki (often called a Bun Kebab) is a popular Pakistani street food 🍔🇵🇰. It’s basically a soft bun filled with a spiced Shami Kebab (shami tikki), chutneys, and onions—simple but very flavorful.
Typical ingredients:
Soft burger bun
Shami tikki/kebab (made from minced meat + lentils + spices)
Fried egg (optional but common)
Green chutney 🌿
Tamarind chutney
Sliced onions
Cucumber slices
Cabbage or lettuce
Ingredients:
500 g minced beef or chicken
½ cup chana dal (split chickpeas)
1 onion
3–4 garlic cloves
1 inch ginger
1 tsp cumin
1 tsp garam masala
2–3 green chilies
Salt to taste
Steps:
Boil minced meat, chana dal, onion, ginger, garlic, and spices together until water dries.
Blend or mash into a thick mixture.
Shape into small tikki (patties).
Shallow-fry until golden brown.
Lightly toast the bun in butter 🧈.
Add green chutney and tamarind chutney.
Place the shami tikki.
Add fried egg (optional).
Top with onions and cucumber.
Close bun and serve hot 🔥.
